Peru President visits National Health Institute's lab

The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Friday made a visit to the Lima-based National Health Institute (INS), within the framework of the state of emergency against COVID-19.

Within this framework, the Head of State visited the biomedical laboratory.

On the occasion, the top official was joined by Health Minister Victor Zamora and National Council for Science and Technological Innovation (Concytec) Chairwoman Fabiola León-Velarde.

The visit took place within the framework of a mandatory social isolation imposed to prevent the COVID-19 from further spreading in the South American country.

Initially set to last from March 16 to 30, the measure was extended thru May 24.

Friday marks the sixty-first day of mandatory social isolation in Peru.
