The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Wednesday participated in the ceremony marking the commemoration of Peruvian Cuisine and Gastronomy Day so as to revalue the richness and diversity of our country's gastronomic heritage.

The Head of State was joined by Cabinet Chief Anibal Torres and other State Ministers during the event held at the Government Palace's Courtyard of Honor in Lima.

This ceremony was attended by gastronomic associations, chefs, cooks, students, regional authorities, mayors, ambassadors, as well as representatives of the United Nations (UN), universities, and public entities, among others.

Representative dishes of 25 Peruvian regions were showcased on the occasion, as were flagship products (coffee and pisco), in addition to an exhibition of crafts.

The event also saw the presence of Foreign Trade and Tourism Minister Roberto Sanchez; Deputy Tourism Minister Isabel Alvarez; Peru's Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru) Executive-President Amora Carbajal; and Association of Seafood and Related Restaurants of Peru (Armap) Chairman Javier Vargas.

The Peruvian Cuisine and Gastronomy Day is celebrated every second Sunday of September —a date established by Congress of the Republic on October 6, 2010.
