The
President of the Republic Dina Boluarte called on legislators to vote for early elections in order to respond to the clamor of the people, who want new authorities.
"I urge legislators to vote for early elections. Let's all of us go, that's what the population is asking for," Mrs. Boluarte said in an interview with Panorama.
The Head of State also affirmed that she is only fulfilling the responsibility that has been constitutionally entrusted to her for being elected on Peru Libre's presidential ticket during the 2021 elections.
In this regard, the country's top official thanked the support of parliamentarians who have recognized her as President of the Republic, as a sign of their support for democracy and governance.
Regarding the demonstrations that have included acts of vandalism, the dignitary stated that the Government will not give in to unrest and violence.
"We cannot compromise with violence. Peru has experienced it during the 80s and 90s. We have to be firm to prevent anxiety from coming back in the country," she pointed out.
