The
President of the Republic Dina Boluarte participated at the leaders' plenary session of the Third Summit for Democracy, held virtually from Seoul, Republic of Korea.
At the virtual event, held on Wednesday, the Head of State reiterated that her commitment to Peru is to strengthen democracy, revive the economy, ensure citizen security, and improve the quality of life of Peruvian nationals.
In her speech, she remarked that, in a world marked by diverse opinions and views, democracy offers a space for dialogue, mutual respect, and consensus-building, which may lead to the path of development and peace.
The Third Summit for Democracy, which was established under the leadership of the United States, opened in South Korea on March 18, and took place over three days under the theme of "Democracy for Future Generations."
The video-conference was attended by 36 world leaders, including Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Kenia's President William Ruto, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, U.S. President Joe Biden, Japan's Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, among others.
