The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Monday morning presided over a ceremony that conferred the 2023 Order of Labor on the occasion of International Workers' Day.

The Peruvian Order of Labor is awarded to individuals who have meritoriously contributed to the well-being of workers, as well as to the harmony and improvement of labor legislation, employment promotion, labor training, and social security in the country.

During the activity, the Head of State was accompanied by Labor and Employment Promotion Minister Antonio Valera.

The event was held at the Government Palace in the Peruvian capital, Lima.

International Workers' Day

The International Workers' Day celebration commemorates the fight of Chicago (U.S.) workers who, on May 1, 1886, went on strike demanding an eight-hour workday.
