President of Peru, Jose Jeri stated today that the Government will extend the state of emergency for as long as necessary to restore security levels for the benefit of Peruvians.

“The state of emergency is a tool that allows us to combat any type of incident more quickly. I will extend it for as long as necessary so that it allows us to progressively recover levels of peace and security,” the president Jeri stated.

After noting the high levels of insecurity he encountered, the head of state said that sufficient time must be taken to adopt the best mechanisms to combat it.

President Jerí made these statements during a tour and patrol he led in recent hours in the districts of San Martín de Porres and Carabayllo, where he inspected the work of the police stations.

The president walked from the Government Palace to San Martín de Porres. In Carabayllo, he met with the mayor, Pablo Mendoza, who has been the target of threats in recent weeks.

When asked by the press about the situation in Venezuela, he stated that it was a decision that had to be made, and once it was made, the next step was to restore constitutional and democratic order.

The president also announced that his meeting with the president-elect of Chile, José Antonio Kast, would address a possible humanitarian corridor for the return of Venezuelans.
