President of Peru arrives in U.S. to attend UN General Assembly

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Sunday arrived in the United States to participate in the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.

The Head of State landed in New York City in the afternoon joined by Peru's First Lady Lilia Paredes at around 5:45 p.m.

Upon arrival, he was welcomed by the Permanent Representative of Peru to the United Nations Manuel Rodriguez Cuadros.

Within the framework of this official visit, Mr. Castillo will fulfill a series of activities in New York City starting on Monday. The key date will be September 20.

The official delegation accompanying the President is composed of Ministers Cesar Landa (Foreign Affairs), Kurt Burneo (Economy and Finance), Roberto Sanchez (Foreign Trade and Tourism), and Rosendo Serna (Education).

It should be noted that the plane carrying the top official and his delegation had to make a technical stopover in the Mexican city of Cancun, where they were received by Peruvian Ambassador to Mexico Manuel Talavera.
