The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Friday affirmed that the new Talara Refinery denotes the largest development pole in Peru, adding that it will boost the call for new investments.

Within this framework, the Head of State remarked that the new refinery "is a fact" and a future for all Peruvians.

"This is an essential mega project that strengthens our energy security, generating opportunities for the repowering of the hydrocarbon sector," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.

"The new refinery already produces gasoline, diesel, asphalt, liquefied petroleum gas, and other products, complying with high quality standards that guarantee its sustainability with the population and the environment," she added.

The top official pointed out that its implementation goes hand-in-hand with the promotion of other large-scale works such as the repowering of Petroperu, as well as the strengthening of its human resources and assets.

"Added to them are investments in the modernization and recovery of the Oleoducto Nor Peruano (Northern Peruvian Oil Pipeline) to restore the transportation of crude oil from the jungle," she said.

The top official also indicated that, thanks to this new refinery, Peru will depend "less and less on imports and the game of international prices," since it will be able to process up to 95,000 oil barrels per day so as to supply the entire country.

"This is one of the most modern deep conversion refineries on the southern Pacific coast and one of the nine refineries in the world that rely on a flexicoking technology unit," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.

"This makes it one of the highest quality facilities in the world, with capacity to process crude oil residue and convert it into high-value products, such as gasoline, diesel, naphtha, and LPG," she added.

"We will continue advancing because my administration is on the side of all of you, calling for more responsible investment that respects the population and the environment so as to obtain greater canon, more royalties, and to strengthen opportunities for development and economic growth for Peruvian women and men," Mrs. Boluarte pointed out.
