The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Saturday afternoon reported that 1,012,708 COVID-19 detection tests have been conducted to date in Peru.

At a press conference, the Head of State stressed that 48,000 tests were carried out last Friday —the equivalent of what was reached in the first month of the national emergency.

Within this framework, the top official recalled that the initial goal, set by Health Minister Victor Zamora,
was to increase the daily tests to 12,000 —a goal that has been met by far.

The statesman also said that the average number of tests conducted per week exceeds 30,000, in order to serve a greater number of people.

Initially set to last from March 16 to 30, the social isolation measure was extended until June 30.

On this occasion, the President was joined by members of the Council of Ministers. The event was held at the Government Palace in Lima.

Saturday marks the seventy-sixth day of mandatory social isolation.
