President Humala met with Japanese Prime Minister

Presidente Ollanta Humala se reúne con Primer Ministro de Japón, Shinzo Abe, en Beijing, en el marco de la cumbre Apec

Peruvian President Ollanta Humala had a meeting with Japan’s Primer Minister Shinzo Abe, in which Humala assured Peru is interested in promoting Japanese investment in sectors such as port, road infrastructure and energy.

This new investment portfolio will be implemented by taking into consideration the Infrastructure Master Plan intended for the Pacific Alliance, reported the Peruvian Government Palace's press office Secretariat.

Such a plan involves the construction of a multimodal infrastructure at the Callao port, a thermoelectric power station and a chemical plant in the South of the country using Camisea gas; it also includes the developmenmt of a monorail system for Peru’s capital city, Lima.

During the meeting, held on the sideline of the 22nd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (AELM), the dignitaries also discussed the possibility of introducing Peruvian agro-industrial products into the Japanese market.

Mr. Humala emphasised the Government's interest in increasing the number of scholarships awarded to Peruvian students for their training and specialization in fields such as nanotechnology, electricity, agricultural development, hydrological development, and even Japanese language.
