President Humala meets with Luxembourg, Sweden authorities

Peruvian President Ollanta Humala Tasso held bilateral meetings with Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven and Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Bettel in Brussels, Belgium.

The meetings were held within the framework of the second Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and the European Union (EU-CELAC), which ends Thursday.

The Peruvian leader will also participate in the "Dialogue on International Issues and Developments" in the presence of Heads of State and Government attending the bi-regional Summit.

The said session will address various development issues and every Head of State will explain their point of view on the topics raised.

Finally, Mr. Humala will attend a meeting’s closing event at the Royal Palace, and then return to Peru.

On Wednesday, he attended the signing of the Schengen visa waiver agreement intended to exempt Peruvian and Colombian citizens from the visa requirement when travelling to Europe.

He also met with European Council President Donald Tusk. Such gathering highlighted the progress made by Peru in reducing poverty and chronic childhood malnutrition. 

Emphasis was also made on its efforts to achieve productive diversification, as well as on the economic responsibility that combines a real social policy with care for the environment in order to reduce inequality gap.
