Before dozens of children from various provinces and regions, the President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Saturday affirmed that his administration will dedicate its best efforts so that education in Peru is a guaranteed constitutional right.

"I tell all children of Peru that this Government will do everything possible to ensure that Peruvian education is truly a constitutional right, without any discrimination," Mr. Castillo expressed after welcoming a delegation of students to the Government Palace in Lima.

Students from schools on the coast, Andes, and rainforest received the fraternal greeting from the Head of State, who felt glad to share in the children's merriment.

Following a tour of the Palace facilities, the top official proposed that children and young people from all over the country continue to visit the Executive Branch headquarters so as to listen in person to their main demands.

"I would like to invite all children and Peruvian youth to come not only to see the Palace, but also (for us) to learn what you need, to see as a Government what we must do," he indicated.

Likewise, he called on ministries, regional governments, and municipalities to keep their doors open to teachers, parents, and society in general to dialogue and continue closing gaps in terms of educational infrastructure.

"I also urge the Ministry of Education, Local Educational Management Units (UGEL), and Regional Education Directorates (DRE) to reach the necessary consensus to define a new educational curriculum that incorporates the clamor of children, adolescents, university students, parents, and teachers," he pointed out.

Today's event was held within the framework of the XI National Meeting of Boys and Girls from Indigenous, Afro-Peruvian Peoples and other Traditional Cultures "Tinkuy 2022."
