The President of the Republic, Keiko Fujimori, led the presentation of results today regarding operations carried out by the Pataz Unified Command—comprising the Armed Forces and the National Police of Peru—and reaffirmed that the government will not back down in the fight against organized crime.

“We will not stop in this endeavor; the goal is to restore order, and the ultimate path will lead to peace in our country,” she stated during an event held at the National Police’s Special Services Unit in Trujillo.

The Head of State was accompanied by the President of the Council of Ministers, Luis Galarreta; the Ministers of the Interior, César Astudillo; Defense, Rafael Belaúnde; Justice and Human Rights, Ernesto Álvarez; Health, Luis Dyer; and Agrarian Development and Irrigation, Marco Vinelli. Also present were the General Commander of the National Police, Lieutenant General Fredy López, and the Chief of the La Libertad Police Region, General Erick Ángeles.

During her remarks, the President highlighted the work of the Armed Forces and National Police personnel operating in Pataz, acknowledging the sacrifice and courage with which they confront criminal organizations.

Furthermore, she reaffirmed the government’s support for the work of the Unified Command and underscored the results achieved through these operations.

“The Unified Command continues to make progress and has the government’s backing,” she noted.

“I wanted to come here personally to thank the members of the Armed Forces and the National Police who are present here and in the area. Those who risk their lives—who, with courage and sacrifice, confront these criminal scourges—deserve our recognition and our applause,” she expressed.

The president highlighted the capture of 18 members of the criminal organization “La Gran Alianza”—including Juver Jair Carbajal Cruz, alias “Goku,” who is identified as a lieutenant within the group—during an operation carried out in the province of Pataz, in the La Libertad region.

“This is a highly significant blow to criminal organizations engaged in illegal mining,” emphasized President Keiko Fujimori.

The president also addressed the extradition process for Miguel Antonio Rodríguez Díaz, alias “Cuchillo,” who is linked to the criminal organization and is currently in Colombia, noting that “we continue to make progress in this process.”

Also detained during the operation was Walter Atanacio Pérez, identified as the alleged armed enforcer for the criminal organization. All those captured are under investigation for the alleged illegal possession of firearms, ammunition, and explosives.

Furthermore, the Pataz Unified Command seized a substantial arsenal, including one Galil rifle, two R-15 rifles, a Derya pistol, 700 rounds of ammunition, and magazines for the Galil and R-15 rifles.

Additionally, authorities confiscated 18 red-colored explosive devices, 80 coils of detonating cord, a bulletproof vest, and 11 mobile phones.

The Ministry of Defense stated that the individual known as “Goku” had been arrested previously but was released by order of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, despite having an active case file, according to information provided regarding the matter.

President Fujimori underscored the importance of coordination between the Armed Forces, the National Police, and the Public Prosecutor’s Office to ensure that operations against criminal organizations are supported by the justice system.

Finally, she urged the media to remain attentive to the unfolding of these actions and reiterated that the government will continue to support the work of law enforcement.

Support for the Unified Command

For his part, the President of the Council of Ministers, Luis Galarreta, reaffirmed the Government’s support for the work of the Pataz Unified Command and indicated that the fight against criminal organizations will continue, in accordance with the decision made by the President of the Republic.

He also cautioned that progress in actions against organized crime—as well as the restoration of control over penitentiary facilities—could lead to complex situations that must be anticipated in a timely manner.

Finally, the head of the Ministerial Cabinet asserted that the country has a government with clear direction and a defined course of action in addressing criminality.

“Today, there is a government, there is a president, there is leadership, there is a vision; we are moving forward,” he stated in remarks to the press.
