President Dina Boluarte today emphasized the need to work hand in hand with private investors, who must adhere to a principle of honesty when bidding for various public projects.
This was stated during the signing ceremony of the inter-institutional agreement between the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (Midagri), Proinversión, and the Regional Government of Lambayeque, held at the Government Palace, to continue the development of the Olmos irrigation project in northern Peru.
"We need to work hand in hand with private investors, but when they come to Peru and begin applying as bidders for the major projects we launch, they must keep in mind that the entire process, from the call to the end, must be based on a single principle: honesty," she stated.
In this regard, she asserted that, as a National Government, "they cannot compromise with those who violate the law."
President Dina Boluarte also maintained that the Olmos Project was created with a grand development plan, with the goal of turning northern Peru into a major agricultural power.
However, she said that this initiative, like so many others, "was unfortunately tainted by signs of corruption, which we radically reject."
She also noted that Peru exported a total of $13 billion in fruits and vegetables to dozens of countries around the world in 2024.
"This day will be remembered because we have a new opportunity to change the dark acts of corruption and that in the future we will see that it is possible to achieve major projects like Olmos and that Peru's history can advance without acts of corruption," she stated.
At another point, she asserted that work must be done honestly and transparently, with decent companies, because money from corruption "only brings poverty and backwardness."
