"I start this day by greeting the more than 17 million Peruvian women, who are brave, courageous, entrepreneurial, and, above all, intelligent, who day by day not only build their future but also pave the way so that we can say that we deserve the same rights and opportunities (...)," she expressed.
The Head of State underscored that the tunnel boring machine for this mega project is precisely named after Delia, in homage to this determined and challenging woman who in the 1960s graduated as a mining engineer from the Lima-based National University of Engineering (UNI).
"Today, we pay tribute to Delia, a professional woman, an example of the contribution by Peruvian women to the country," Mrs. Boluarte noted.
"I am also proud to participate in supervising the progress of a project where more than 1,000 women work and contribute to enhancing the transportation system. Thus, the importance of the role that women play in the country is clear," she stated.
Similarly, the top official greeted female engineers who work on this project, which will be of great benefit to Lima and to raising high Peru's image.
"I want to give a hug to the thousands of working women in every level; let us be the example of unity, of collaboration among us (…). Let us be the example for courageous women and for paving the way despite the difficulties, but in that embrace of solidarity as women," she pointed out.
