Presidency of the Republic greets Cusco on 492nd Foundation Anniversary

The Presidency of the Republic on Monday greeted Cusco region on the occasion of the 492nd anniversary of its foundation, highlighting its historical and cultural value.

Through its official channels, the Presidential Office reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the region's heritage and to promoting actions aimed at its development.

"On the anniversary of Cusco, we celebrate the greatness of the Inca Empire’s capital, the political, cultural, and spiritual center of the Tahuantinsuyo. Its streets, temples, and traditions keep alive the memory of our ancestors," the publication said.

Cusco region commemorates its anniversary every March 23, marking its Spanish foundation by Francisco Pizarro in 1534.

The southeastern region currently stands out for activities such as tourism, with emblematic attractions like Machu Picchu and traditional celebrations such as Inti Raymi (Festival of the Sun), as well as sectors including agriculture and mining.
