"President Fujimori will welcome the Pope at Government Palace, where they will hold a private meeting," Espa said during a press conference.
"They will also meet with various authorities. It will be a very important visit to the Palace," he added.
The government official said the President and Cabinet members are very excited about the papal visit in November.
Similarly, the Cabinet member expressed confidence that it will be a great success, adding that all the necessary coordination efforts are already underway.
Espa also announced that His Holiness will meet with young Peruvians to conclude the activities marking the Jubilee celebrating the 300th anniversary of Saint Toribio de Mogrovejo’s canonization.
Pope Leo XIV will travel to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru from November 6 to 17, having accepted invitations from the heads of state and ecclesiastical authorities of the three countries, Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni announced earlier today.
During the trip, he will visit Montevideo, Paysandu, and Florida from November 6 to 8; Buenos Aires, Cordoba, and Lujan from November 8 to 11; and Lima, Chiclayo, Cusco, and Pucallpa from November 11 to 17.
