Four Peruvian badminton players won five medals —two gold and three bronze— in the Youth International Spanish Junior Oviedo championship held on February 15-17.
Players from Spain, Colombia, and Portugal participated in the tournament as well.
It must be noted Peruvian Mariano Velarde took the first place on the podium twice in the U-15 category.
The first one was in the singles category and the second in doubles, which he played along with Fabrizio Tabini.
They defeated Spanish players Joel Diaz and Roman Gonzales with a 2-0 score (21-10; 23-21).
Likewise, Erika Volosova (U-15) won third place in the doubles category alongside Laura Alvarez (Spain).
Lastly, Alejandro Chueca (U-17) obtained two bronze medals, one in singles and the other in doubles with Ricardo Alexandre (Portugal).
