A Peruvian delegation comprising 11 students and two teachers of 'Orquestando' —a program of the Ministry of Education (Minedu)— is in London as part of the London Music Tour 2016: Friendship and Excellence through Music.
This is the first time young Peruvian musicians take part in an international event of this kind.
Having started yesterday, the tour will run until July 3, ending with a concert at the Royal Albert Hall —considered a historical and cultural monument of Great Britain.
This inter-cultural experience gathers school students from different countries to promote their artistic, personal and social development through music.
“This is an opportunity to develop high-level music; it helps participants strengthen their artistic competences and abilities to apply what they learned in different contexts,” Peruvian teacher Wilfredo Tarazona commented.
Peruvians will share their talent in four schools of the UK capital; in fact, they will play alongside London-based Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
The 11-piece group headed to England at the invitation of Haringey Music Service from the borough council of the same name.
