The emblematic Plaza Mayor of Lima was the scene of a vibrant display of faith and joy. The members of the “Aguchita” choir, students from the José María Arguedas National University of Folklore, volunteers from the Vicariate of Youth of the Archbishopric of Lima and Callao recorded the first flashmob dedicated to the visit of Pope Leo XIV to Peru.
The arrival of the Holy Father to the Peruvian lands where he worked before becoming the Supreme Pontiff of the Catholic Church, is scheduled for November 11 and will remain until the 16th of the same month.
The initiative aims to promote the official anthem of the Holy Father titled “León, brother of the path.” This song composed by Jaime Montoya and performed by the “Aguchita” choir can be performed by all Peruvians before His Holiness.
The choreography performed by more than 100 young people became a collective celebration.
As the chords of the song were felt in the air, the passers-by who circulated through the place became infected with the rhythm and choreography. Without a doubt, they turned the square into a true welcome party for Pope Leo XIV.
This activity was not only a cultural expression, but also a prelude to the reception of the Holy Father, who during his visit will tour Lima, Chiclayo, Santa Cruz de Succhabamba (Cajamarca), Cusco and Pucallpa.
The participation of citizens in the flashmod reflects the warmth and fervor with which Peru awaits this historic event, where music will become the universal language of unity and hope.
The expectation for the arrival of the Holy Father continues to grow, and demonstrations like this show that the Peruvian people are ready to receive him with the renewed spirit and joy that characterizes us.
