Peru's Prime Minister Anibal Torres on Tuesday met with Venezuelan Ambassador to Peru Alexander Yañez Deleuze, from whom he received a formal greeting.

At the meeting, the two authorities discussed topics of bilateral interest related to the strengthening of cooperation on migration, trade, culture, and air connectivity issues between both countries.

Regarding the migration issue, the Cabinet chief reaffirmed that there is full respect for Venezuelan migration in Peru.

Likewise, he remarked that the Venezuelan Government's cooperation is important to facilitate the return —to their country— of Venezuelan nationals committing crimes in Peru.

With respect to trade cooperation, both authorities agreed to prioritize the promotion of commercial exchange and tourism so as to return to previous levels, stressing the need to promote the restoration of air connectivity.

Referring to cultural cooperation, the Venezuelan ambassador announced that his country will participate in the activities that are planned to take place in 2024 to commemorate the Bicentennial of the Battles of Junin and Ayacucho, because of their historical importance for both nations.
