The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday night accepted the resignation submitted by Interior Minister Luis Barranzuela.

Likewise, the Head of State announced that he will swear in Barranzuela's replacement in the next few hours.

Via twitter, the top official reiterated that guaranteeing the governability of the country remains his administration's commitment.

On the same platform, Barranzuela reported that he had made "the democratic decision to resign irrevocably" out of respect for governability and the trust granted by the President of the Republic.

In turn, Prime Minister Mirtha Vasquez deemed the Head of State's decision as important and stressed that stability, consensus, and social peace in Peru are the administration's commitment to follow.
