The
President of the Republic Pedro Castillo has accepted the resignation of Walter Ayala as Defense Minister of Peru.
This was announced in a statement released on Monday by the Secretariat of Strategic Communication and Press of the Presidential Office.
"Mr. Walter Ayala has submitted his letter of irrevocable resignation from the position of Minister of Defense to the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo. Accordingly, the Head of State accepted his resignation and thanked him for the services rendered to the Nation," reads the communiqué.
Precisely Walter Ayala had reported that he submitted his irrevocable resignation from said ministry and expressed his gratitude to President Pedro Castillo.
In the tweet in which he notified his decision, Ayala affirmed that he had reliably demonstrated "legal and correct action in the process of military promotion and succession."
"I assume full political responsibility for it; therefore, as a democrat, I irrevocably resign from the Ministry of Defense," he stated.
