Prime Minister Alberto Otarola on Tuesday reaffirmed the Peruvian Government's commitment in favor of South American integration.

Said commitment was made within the framework of the Meeting of South American Presidents held in Brasilia, where he received the fraternal greeting from the hosting country's President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Otarola communicated Peru's interest in working together with the neighboring country on security and defense issues.

The Cabinet chief also stressed that Peruvian President Dina Boluarte shares his vision of promoting the development and unity of the region.

"The PCM (Presidency of the Council of Ministers) head shared Peru's wish to work together with Brazil and sister countries to consolidate, through the Amazonia, a South America with global projection. This political perspective will contribute to closing social gaps and improving the population's living conditions," the government agency expressed on its official Twitter account.

Today, the Prime Minister will participate in the opening and closing of the Presidential Summit of South American Countries, which takes place in Brazil.

As part of this event, bilateral meetings and dialogue of presidents will be held.
