Peru's Prime Minister Anibal Torres on Wednesday affirmed that the Government is implementing a true social market economy model in order to benefit the most forgotten and neglected classes in the country.

In an interview with the YouTube channel El Etnopatriota, the Cabinet chief pointed out that the Government abides by the economic program established by the Political Constitution.

He went on to say that companies are only required to pay their taxes to do social work in favor of the great majorities.

In this regard, the high-ranking official rejected any claim suggesting that this is a Marxist, Leninist or Communist government since homes or properties have not been expropriated; entrepreneurs or representatives of right-wing parties have not been attacked, either.

On the contrary, Torres affirmed that ultraliberalism and a small number of large-scale entrepreneurs, who have economic control and have held political dominance, were not able to turn President Pedro Castillo toward the right wing, as they did with his predecessors.

Likewise, he rejected any attempt to discredit the current government officials, noting that those who were considered capable have left a ruined country with large social gaps.

The head of the Ministerial Cabinet highlighted the intense work carried out by the Executive Branch in order to promote, for example, the Second Agrarian Reform.

"Farmers have never been treated the way they are treated now, of course it (the Second Agrarian Reform) cannot be accomplished overnight, it takes time," he added.
