Peru's flagship Pisco drink arrived in 44 countries, thus leading to revenue of US$8.63 million in 2016, up by 5% from the previous year, the Association of Peruvian Exporters (Adex) informed.
According to Adex Pisco Committee President William Urbina, Pisco exporters are expected to participate in foreign fairs and missions. Said initiative aims at boosting Pisco's presence in existing markets and —at the same time— allowing its entry into new ones.
"We, Pisco producers and exporters, are very interested in participating in Imbibe Life fair, scheduled for July in England," Urbina said.
"It [said fair] expects the attendance of 12,000 professionals engaged in this activity, ranging from sommeliers to buyers," he added.
Pisco producers are also interested in attending Expoalimentaria fair, Peru's greatest food-trading event, to be held in September 2017.
New markets
During 2016, Pisco exports arrived in new and pre-existing markets such as Curacao, Denmark, India, Indonesia, Israel, Norway, the Dominican Republic and Paraguay.

Chile became Peru's top Pisco exports destination during the analyzed year (US$3.13 million). Its demand experienced a 13% increase, according to the guild's Trade Intelligence System.
Next on the list were the U.S. (US$2.58 million), the Netherlands (+48%), Spain (+34%) and the United Kingdom (+17%).
