Peruvian, Brazilian presidents meet in Porto Velho

The meeting between the President of the Republic of Peru, Pedro Castillo, and his Brazilian counterpart, Jair Bolsonaro, was held in the city of Porto Velho on Thursday.

Both top officials were joined by members of their Cabinets.

At the gathering, they discussed the multimodal connection, trade, and border cooperation, among other topics of bilateral interest.

This meeting was intended to strengthen the process of integration and cooperation between the two countries, in favor of the development of populations based in the common border.

The event took place at Palacio Rio Madeira in Porto Velho, Rondonia State.

Later, both dignitaries signed a joint Presidential Declaration.


The delegation joining the Head of State was composed of First Lady Lilia Paredes, as well as Ministers Cesar Landa (Foreign Affairs), Jose Gavidia (Defense), and Roberto Sanchez (Foreign Trade-Tourism), among other officials.

Brazil is Peru's first trading partner in the region, with which it shares a 2,822-kilometer Amazonian border.
