Peruvian long-distance runners Willy Canchanya and Jovana de la Cruz confirmed their participation in the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

According to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), they reached the time required at the 2015 Marathon Toronto competition (Canada).

For first time, the Huancayo-born Willy Canchanya competed in the 42km category and claimed the ninth spot with 2 hours 14.24 minutes. 

On the other hand, Jovana de la Cruz -who also made her debut in the aforementioned category- reached the time 2 hours 35.03 minutes.

It must be noted that Willy Canchanya and Jovana de La Cruz are married and participated in this tournament with the aim of representing Peru in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games to be held on August 5th-21st, 2016.
