Peruvian athlete Yeny Vargas qualified for women’s 400m final (T45/46/47 category) at Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.
Born in Apurimac region, Vargas competed with athletes Anrune Liebenberg (South Africa), Sae Tsuji (Japan), Teresinha de Jesus (Brazil), Amanda Cerna (Chile), Amara Lallwala (Sierra Leone) and Amy Watt (USA).
"My first objective was to qualify for the finals. Now, I want to win gold [...]," the 18-year-old stated.
Due to an electric shock, the national sportswoman lost a part of her left arm at age 5. Despite of this tragic event, Vargas always fights for her dreams.
The finals take place on Wednesday at 6:20 PM (local time).
Rio 2016 Paralympics features disabled athletes from 161 countries on September 7-18.
