Peruvian singer and songwriter Tony Succar on Thursday won the Latin Grammy 2019 in the Best Salsa Album category for his creation titled "Mas de Mi" (More of Me).

At the awards ceremony, the artist dedicated his triumph "to all Peruvians around the world" and thanked the artists who participated in the album production.

"I love you, Peru!" said the Latin Grammy winner, while also thanking his family and Peruvian musician Gianmarco Zignago.

In the Best Salsa Album category, "Mas de Mi" by Tony Succar competed with "Cuba Linda" by Maite Hontelé, "55 Anniversario" by Mario Ortiz All Star Band, "Mi Luz Mayor" by Eddie Palmieri, and "Nuestro Hogar" by Quintero's Salsa Project.

The winner's speech had an emotional moment, when Succar remembered his grandfather.

"I want to dedicate this award to my 94-year-old grandfather, who could not be with me today but has given me everything in life," said the musician in a broken voice, which led to a round of applause.

The event takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the U.S. city of Las Vegas, Nevada.
