Peruvian athlete Gladys Tejeda grabbed the half marathon gold medal at the Bolivarian Games in Santa Marta, Colombia.

The long-distance runner clocked one hour, 14 minutes and 55 seconds to emerge champion in the race.


Tejeda finished nearly 100 meters ahead of Colombian Angie Orjuela and Ecuador's Diana Landi, who won silver and bronze, respectively.

The winner of the men's category was Colombian Jeisson Alexander Suarez (1:06.53). Diego Colorado (Colombia) came second and Segundo Jami (Ecuador) third. 


Peruvian Nelson Ito and Ulises Marin took fourth and fifth, respectively.
