The Peruvian national surf team won first place as a team in the South American Championship – Rázuri Centennial Cup 2025, held in Chicama, La Libertad, by earning 9 gold medals, 6 silver, and 4 bronze.
The National Sports Federation of Surfing (FENTA) with the support of the Peruvian Sports Institute (IPD) organized the event.
María Fernanda Reyes won the gold medal in the women’s longboard category with 14.33 points. The surfer, a member of the Athlete Support Program (PAD) of the IPD, is champion of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games and runner-up in Lima 2019.
Meanwhile, Tamil Martino won gold in the men’s SUP Surf modality with 12.7 points, and Itzel Delgado was the best in men’s SUP Race; both are members of the Athlete Support Program (PAD).
In the women’s Open category, Catalina Zariquey, and in Junior Bodyboard, Cristóbal Dávila, each took the gold medal.
Vania Torres (SUP Surf) and Gianisa Vecco (Women’s SUP Race) earned silver medals. In addition, 'Piccolo' Clemente, who is a four-time world champion, earned the bronze in the Longboard modality.
Raúl Ríos won bronze in the men’s Open category, as did Hanna Saavedra in women’s Bodyboard.
Tadeo de la Fuente (Under-12), a member of the Athlete Support Program (PAD), won silver; Emma García (Under-12) won gold; Antonella Caballero (Under-12) won silver; Valentina Escudero (Under-14) won gold; Facundo Castañeda (Under-14) won gold.
Sofía Artieda (Under-16) won silver; Brianna Barthelmess (Under-16) won bronze; Bastian Arevalo (Under-16) won gold; Urpi Torres (Under-18) won gold; Adrián de Osma (Under-18) won bronze; and Camila Sanday (Under-18) won silver.
The Peruvian delegation totaled 20,985 points, followed by Argentina with 19,030 points and Chile with 17,170 points, thereby securing first place in the team category.
