Peru's Prime Minister meets with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State

Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola has met with the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Brian A. Nichols, thereby strengthening ties between both countries, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru.

As stated in a social media post by the Peruvian government agency on Tuesday, the authorities discussed the relaunch of the cooperation to fight drug trafficking and to promote alternative development

The meeting, held at the offices of the U.S. Department of State in Washington D.C., addressed the implementation of the air interdiction agreement and investment opportunities offered by Peru.

Along with Peruvian Ministers Ana Cecilia Gervasi (Foreign Affairs), Eduardo Arana (Justice) and Leslie Urteaga (Culture), they also discussed the upcoming APEC Presidency to be assumed by Peru and the joint actions on defense, culture, and environment.

Furthermore, the Cabinet chief acknowledged the willingness of the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Brian Nichols, to work for Peru, just as he did as Ambassador to Peru.
