Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola on Tuesday morning led a meeting in response to the alert issued for the 2023-2024 global El Niño phenomenon.
The purpose of the meeting is to coordinate, plan, and evaluate multisectoral actions in the face of the occurrence of said weather event.

Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) said on Twitter.
The meeting included the participation of Ministers Jorge Chavez (Defense) and Nelly Paredes (Agrarian Development and Irrigation).
In addition, the activity featured PCM's Deputy Territorial Governance Minister Paul Caiguaray and National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) Chief Carlos Yañez.
It should be noted that 18 regions across the country are under a state of emergency due to heavy rains and El Niño phenomenon.
In this regard, the above-mentioned sectors are carrying out response and rehabilitation actions for the benefit of the most affected families, by virtue of supreme decrees No. 065-2023-PCM and No. 072-2023-PCM.
