The President of the Republic, Keiko Fujimori, on Friday stated that Dr. Zulema Tomas meets the requirements to become the next Executive President of the Social Health Insurance System (EsSalud).

In an interview with RPP, the Head of State indicated that Tomas is an experienced professional.

The top official said that, although Tomas had served as a State minister under a previous administration, this does not concern her.

"Zulema Tomas is the person the Labor minister is considering. She has experience in the sector and has served as a minister," Fujimori noted.

"When I evaluate a résumé, I do not look at whether someone has opposed us; I focus on their ability and experience, and Dr. Tomas meets those requirements," she explained.

"For me, that is what matters," the Head of State added.

At another point, the President indicated that journalist and writer Alvaro Vargas Llosa has accepted the Government's invitation to serve as Peru's Ambassador to the United States.

The Head of State said he is a highly experienced Peruvian whose work will further elevate bilateral relations with the North American country.

"He will be a great ambassador. We are awaiting the protocol procedures for this type of appointment," Fujimori concluded.
