The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, pledged on Tuesday to boost the modernization of Peruvian ports, strengthening logistical infrastructure and fostering greater integration of Peru into global trade routes.

These statements were made during his speech at the graduation ceremony of the new class at the Merchant Marine School.

"From the government, we clearly understand this challenge, which is why we will boost, and continue to promote, the modernization of our ports, strengthening logistical infrastructure and fostering greater integration of Peru into global trade routes," he stated addressing the graduates.

The top official pointed out that Peru is a maritime country, where more than 90% of foreign trade moves by sea, which translates into more employment, competitiveness, economic growth, and Peruvian presence worldwide.

"In this system, you are important; starting today, you leave the classrooms to become key players in our country's development. Through navigation and logistical management, your work will ensure that our exports arrive on time, ports operate efficiently, and Peru is recognized as a reliable partner in international trade," he expressed.

The Head of State indicated that no investment in infrastructure makes sense if it is not accompanied by quality human resources, as the graduates "will not only manage cargo, but also manage trust, make decisions that impact the economy, and represent Peru at every port around the world."

"The true value of their education lies not in the technical skills, but in the values that uphold it: honor, discipline, responsibility, and respect for the law, which are essential conditions for building a modern country," he added.
