arrived in the northern city of Trujillo on Friday to inspect El Milagro Prison, oversee its control center, and receive the results of the search operation and security interventions carried out at the facility.
"Search operations will be constant, as will security sweeps. Criminal elements will surely attempt to intimidate us, but they are mistaken about this Government. We stand firm and united, and we will not stop until we restore peace and order in our country," Fujimori pointed out.
The Head of State announced that new housing units will be built at El Milagro Prison, which has a capacity for 1,500 inmates but currently houses more than 6,000.
"This must also be addressed, as it will allow INPE staff to manage the facility more effectively," she underscored.
President Fujimori emphasized that this marks the beginning of efforts to regain control of all prisons nationwide.
Additionally, the top official led the presentation of a contingent of 890 agents from specialized National Police units, who will reinforce operational efforts in La Libertad region.
Thus, the Government is strengthening prison control measures as part of its strategy to combat crime and organized criminal activity.
