The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday affirmed that his administration has been working to protect the integrity and lives of all Peruvians across the national territory —in the face of adverse situations that occur such as natural disasters.

Mr. Castillo participated in the ceremony for the third anniversary of the National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) in Lima.

Within this framework, the President stated that these facilities are of great use to the nation, adding that they have nothing to envy other international institutions.

"As the Government, we have the responsibility to protect the lives and integrity of all Peruvians; along with State ministers and officials we are in this unwavering task together committed to the development of the country," he indicated.

Likewise, the Head of State acknowledged COEN's immediate response to emergencies across the country.

"We do not forget its rapid response to the oil spill disaster in Ventanilla, the 7.5 magnitude quake in Amazonas, and the landslide in Chavin de Huantar," he emphasized.

Mr. Castillo noted that the institution receives all the support from the Government in order to continue promoting the safety of all Peruvians.

Moreover, he stressed the need to have a modern facility with better technology.

The top dignitary emphasized that the construction of COEN facilities was made possible with the technical and financial support of the People's Republic of China.

Said support was provided within the framework of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
