Peruvian President Francisco Sagasti on Sunday highlighted the startup of the construction of the new Carretera Central (Central Highway), which will connect Lima with regions in central Peru, adding that it will contribute to reactivating the economy.
In a post on Twitter, the Head of State pointed out that this work, pending for decades, will be implemented under the Government-to-Government model, and will rely on the technical assistance of the French Government.
Last Thursday, during his visit to Junin region, the President announced that France was chosen to provide support to the project following a rigorous selection process at the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
The work will entail an investment of S/11.571 billion (around US$3.1 billion).
The Central Highway will be a four-lane freeway with comfortable and safe curves. It will include tunnels totaling 30 km in length to avoid altitudes above 4,000 m and, thus, facilitate the transport of vehicles.
In addition, the Peruvian leader shared the pictures of the equipment sent to the Molecular Testing Laboratory in Junin, including 10 ICU bed kits and Pfizer vaccine doses to immunize elderly people in this region.
Finally, the President informed of the delivery of pedagogical tablets in Curahuasi district in Apurimac region, which took place on Tuesday.
