The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Thursday participated in a ceremony featuring the raising of the national flag, on the occasion of the "Day of Institutionalism, Rule of Law, and Defense of Democracy."

The activity took place at Plaza de la Bandera (Flag Roundabout) in Lima's Pueblo Libre district.

On Wednesday, the Peruvian Government declared December 7 of every year as the "Day of Institutionalism, Rule of Law, and Defense of Democracy" to promote democratic and institutional values among citizens and stimulate collective awareness of respect for the Constitutional and Democratic Rule of Law in the country.

In this regard, it was stated that the national flag raising ceremony must be carried out throughout the national territory every year on December 7, as a civic act held on the occasion of said declaration.

Likewise, the official ceremony shall include the participation of public and private institutions, and must be chaired by the regional governor, provincial mayor, district mayor or the competent authority, as applicable to the area.

Moreover, public entities of the Executive Branch, within the scope of their duties, shall provide complementary actions to comply with the objective established in the declaration of the "Day of Institutionalism, Rule of Law, and Defense of Democracy."
