Peruvian President Francisco Sagasti on Sunday afternoon affirmed that more than 140,000 people had been inoculated until then as part of the first Vaccinathon held in Metropolitan Lima and Callao.
"The vaccine is the safest shield against COVID-19. Go to the nearest vaccination center," the statesman remarked.
Additionally, the Head of State insisted on the importance of receiving the second dose to ensure stronger protection.
"The Transition and Emergency Government is demonstrating that appropriate and rapid vaccination is possible, for the benefit of the population," he stated.
The 36-hour crusade is intended to inoculate 200,000 people aged between 47 and 49, as well as those over 50 years of age who are lagging behind.
The first Vaccinathon was delivered by 887 brigades distributed at 21 vaccination sites on three shifts, and is slated to be completed at 9 p.m.
