The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Tuesday reported that the redesign of the national vaccination plan against COVID-19 will have a territory-based approach.

The Head of State explained that the vaccination of the frontline workers (health care workers, firefighters, as well as members of the National Police and Armed Forces) is coming to an end and the immunization of the most vulnerable population (the elderly) has already started.

"In coordination with the Minister of Health and the Ministerial Cabinet, we are giving a new direction to the vaccination process in the next stage, in order to go from the frontline and most vulnerable scheme —whose vaccination process will be completed at the end of this month or in the middle of next month— to a new one," he said.

With this in mind, he noted that the redesign with a territory-based approach will consider the places with the most problems and those requiring direct support, by promoting equal access for all people who need to be vaccinated and protected.

Remarks were made as he led a delivery of medical equipment and supplies in Ica region.
