on Thursday announced that the National Women's Council constitutes a platform for dialogue and coordination with associations of organized female citizens, which has the purpose of strengthening public policies for the protection and promotion of women's rights.
Remarks were made during an installation ceremony for the aforementioned council in Lima's San Borja district.
"This National Women's Council plays an important role by being a platform for integrating dialogue and coordination with organized women from various sectors, who will help us strengthen public policies for the protection and promotion of women's rights," she stated.
The Head of State explained that this council was established to be made up of female citizens united in the search for equality, where each voice counts and is valued.
"It aims to generate significant change in households and our society," she added.
The top official explained that the National Women's Council is being installed today, on the eve of celebrating International Women's Day —a date "that reminds us of our achievements and advances in the social, economic, cultural, and political spheres, both at the national and international level."
"We aim to ensure that our female compatriots enjoy equal opportunities, both in Lima and other parts of the country, where cases of discrimination and violence persist due to the fact of being women," she said.
Moreover, the president affirmed that she is firmly committed to promoting the economic autonomy of Peruvian female citizens, because "it allows their comprehensive development, independence, and a life free of violence."
"We are moving forward; in 2023, the formation of regional networks for the promotion and protection of their economic rights was boosted," Mrs. Boluarte stated.
"Through the National Women Entrepreneur Strategy, more than 1,000 women have benefited; besides, 9,423 women were able to access title deeds; additionally, more than 11,000 women received training and technical assistance in business management," she specified.
