Peru's President leads Council of State session

Peruvian President Francisco Sagasti led a new session of the Council of State on Monday afternoon.

The meeting addressed different issues, including the health protocols for the general elections scheduled for April 11, 2021.

The session included the participation of Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez, as well as the heads of Congress, Mirtha Vasquez; the Judiciary, Elvia Barrios; and the National Justice Board, Ines Tello.

Also attending were Attorney General Zoraida Avalos, Ombudsman Walter Gutierrez, Comptroller General Nelson Shack, Health Minister Oscar Ugarte, and the head of the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE) Piero Corvetto.

The Council of State is the body that brings together the highest authorities of the three branches of State, that is, the President of the Republic, as well as the chairs of Congress and the Judiciary, among other chiefs of State-run organizations.

Moreover, the Council of State sessions are intended to address highly relevant issues.
