Peru: President leads Armed Forces Sword of Honor's ceremony

The President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Tuesday afternoon led a ceremony to award the Sword of Honor to recently graduated officers who have taken first place in class during their training within the Armed Forces.

The ceremony took place at the Courtyard of Honor of the Government Palace in the capital city of Lima.

The event included the participation of Defense Minister Nuria Esparch and the Chief of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces Major General Cesar Astudillo.

Also attending the ceremony were General Commander of the Army Major General Manuel Gomez de la Torre, General Commander of the Navy Vice Admiral Alfonso Menendez, and General Commander of the Peruvian Air Force Lieutenant General Rodolfo Pereyra.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Head of State participated in the inauguration of the 31st Annual Seminar of the Consortium for Economic and Social Research (CIES 2019): Challenges and opportunities in the new global context.

In the event, the President of the Republic asked citizens for trust, responsibility, and tolerance, as well as to get involved in political issues.
