The
President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti on Thursday affirmed that it is possible and essential to smooth things over between the Executive and Legislative Branches, as well as work together while respecting the jurisdiction of each institution.
From the Executive Branch, he said, his administration never tried to impose anything on Parliament or denigrate it.
On the contrary —Mr. Sagasti affirmed— he always sought Parliamentarians' collaboration and attention was drawn to legislative initiatives that had faced some legal, constitutional, or financing difficulties.
In this sense, the top official advocated that this example of collaboration be replicated between the next Executive and Legislative Branches starting July 28 when the new President of the Republic and Congress members take office.
