The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Tuesday expressed his willingness to work jointly on building national development and stressed the need to promote dialogue in order to build bridges and work towards the national agenda.

His remarks were contained in his address delivered before the Congress' plenary session.

The Head of State noted that it is time to put an end to petty arguments and work towards the major national goals, as well as to put an end to polarization and uncertainty, which hinder growth, progress, and development.

"As President, I extend my hand to build bridges, promote dialogue, and work together towards the national agenda," he said in his speech.

The country's top official underscored that when Peruvians elected their authorities, they did so thinking that each power of the State would fulfill its mission responsibly and would not waste time with useless confrontation, which only ends up affecting the poor and undermining the democratic system.

On the other hand, he said that the Government has the responsibility to undertake the great reform of the State, because one cannot be indifferent to ordinary citizens who suffer the consequences.

"As President of the Republic, I am committed to leading this process, which is why we will soon submit a series of reforms to Congress that will allow us to overcome this structural crisis," Mr. Castillo explained.

He said such reforms will be carried out with the participation of the powers of the State, self-government constitutional bodies, and citizens.
