The Peruvian Government today approved the Supreme Decree that extends the state of national emergency until the end of November, President Martín Vizcarra reported on Wednesday.

Within this framework, the Head of State said that the emergency had been previously established thru the end of October but will last for an additional month —until the end of November— with the current restrictions such as nighttime curfew and the ban on social gatherings.

"If we become overconfident, contagion will ignite again; that is what we want to avoid," he expressed.

Today's remarks were made during a televised address to the nation from the Government Palace in Lima.

President Vizcarra was joined by Prime Minister Walter Martos and other Cabinet members on the occasion.
