Peru's President encourages Congress to continue working together

14:00 | Lima, Oct. 6.

Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday called on Congress to continue working along with the Executive Branch for the benefit of the population, as in the case of the regulation on rescheduling of debt payments approved at the Parliament's plenary session.

"(I want) to express —once again— our willingness to work together with Congress. There is evidence of joint work in the mutually agreed regulation that we issued. Let us keep working together —Congress and Government— for the benefit of the population," he affirmed.

Speaking from La Mar —a province in Ayacucho region, where he delivered 500 property titles to peasant communities and farmers— the President noted that the Government is working with regional and municipal authorities to promote progress and development.

"The population wants authorities to be united and to work on a single goal: meeting their needs," he said.

He stressed the importance of strengthening the health system and productive activities that generate work, such as agriculture, adding that the delivery of property titles will help this sector to access credit.

Moreover, the Head of State disclosed that, starting next week, the Ministry of Education will distribute tablets to citizens in distant locations, so as to close the gap between urban areas —with access to technology— and remote areas.

"The best legacy we can leave our children and grandchildren is a good education, and that is why we must bridge the gap between urban and rural education," he explained.
