In a statement made from the Government Palace, the Head of State said that it is suspicious and serious that this complaint was filed after members of the Board of Supreme Prosecutors today demanded the resignation of Benavides.
In this regard, the dignitary underscored that investigations against Benavides and her close collaborators must be carried out with absolute transparency, objectivity, and speed, as well as complying with due legal process.
In addition, she called on political jurisdictional authorities, the Congress of the Republic, and civil society to defend the rule of law, the country's economic stability, and fundamental rights.
Moreover, the top official reaffirmed her government's commitment to fighting corruption, her support for the work of competent judges and prosecutors, as well as her respect and support for democratic institutions and the autonomy of constitutional bodies.
"My government reiterates its commitment to a frontal fight against corruption, which must be carried out without interference or political pressure, as intended in order to distract or change the news on corruption that would involve the attorney general," she pointed out.
"(We express) our full respect for and defense of democratic institutions, the rule of law, and the autonomy of constitutional bodies, including the independence of the Public Ministry, and the processes that are resolved within their own jurisdictions," Mrs. Boluarte added.
